Collage on "A Global Village"
In my collage I used a variety of images. I used a blue background with the word news on it, representing how we are connected through the news. I also used a picture of the world to represent how we all are connected simply by living on the same planet. I also used a cell phone keypad representing how we are connected through telephones, which instantly allow us to be connected to people across the world, along with the msn picture I used which shows connection through the internet. I also used a plane which shows how we are all connected through travel, and money how we are connected through good we buy and sell. Lastly I used three footprints with an earth print on them to represent the global footprints people leave on the world with everyday activities. I also represented the impact humans have on the earth with a picture of an earth burning on a match, representing global warming.
I used a variety of tools on my collage like the magic wand, cookie cutter, text, opacity, eraser and copy and paste. For the magic wand I used it to erase the background of the cell phone keypad. It used to have a black background but I edited it out to make it see through. For the cookie cutter I selected a picture of a world on blank document, choose the footprint cookie cutter shape, and picked out a section of the world picture in the shape of feet. I also did this with an airplane with the background of just plane white. With the text I chose yellow font and just wrote a global village across the middle. For using opacity I changed how the pictures blended into the background. I used this tool on the msn picture, the world, the money and the match.
By creating this collage it helped me to better understand what is meant by the phrase “global village”. I was able to use my imagination and create something I thought represented a global village. I took what I knew, what I learned and my own personal touch and created this collage. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did making it.
